Spring Weekend Away in Sunny Afan and Wales Bike Park

Ben Coming down from the The Wall
This time, we went to the Afan Forest Park and the Wales Bike Park for the Spring Away Weekend, which was an excellent choice. In Afan, you can find everything you are looking for - demanding uphills, amazing sceneries, and flowing downhills. The first lap we have done - Whites level -  after an extra loop of warm up, was great fun! And I think, even more fun was the second lap. It was worth it that we tried out the new trial that opened this year - Blade Trail. Both trials were technically and physically demanding and great fun - what more do you want? After this exhausting day we enjoyed a beer and dinner in the Afan Cycle Center coffee shop.

As Afan Forest Park is mainly focused on XC, Bike Park Wales offers a big choice of different kinds of downhills. We were almost the only ones with mountain bikes weighing less than 15 kg - and also the only ones having used the technical and demanding climb to the top of the hill. It seems the bus attracts the mountain bikers in Wales much more than the I would say very interesting climb. The downhill options are fantastic - from the very flowing blue trails, over the quite technical red trails, to the black trials for the experts you can find everything what you desire.
This weekend was great fun - Steve, many thanks for the organisation of this amazing weekend!
