Summit riders charge Caesar’s Camp!
Young riders from Chiltern-based Summit MTB Club rode fantastically, showing their consistent form at the second round of the Gorrick Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series at Caesar’s Camp near Aldershot at the weekend.
This time the U11s and U13s had to tackle most of the technical features of the full adult course and rose to the challenge magnificently!
Lucy Allsop, was pipped to the line to take second place in U11 girls. Ed Campbell couldn’t quite repeat his fantastic second place at Round 1 and placed 7th, Kai Boakes finished shortly behind Ed in 9th. Both were pleased with their top ten finishes in a strong field.
In the U13s Charles Rollins repeated his strong 5th place of Round 1, showing strength and consistency. He is aiming for a podium place at Round 3!
In what is proving to be Summit MTB’s strongest category, Juvenile Boys (13-14), Ben Broadhead narrowly missed repeating his fourth place of last time out, finishing fifth. He was followed home by Ross Deall in 6th, beating friend and teammate Tom Barrowcliffe into 7th position. With Ross and Tom switching placings this time it looks as though final series placings might be hard fought over the next two rounds! Seth Kanaris rode well to just claim his top ten place.
With a few of the newly-formed All*Stars Development Team sidelined due to injury, adult members and Go-Ride coaches from the club Neil Dingle and Zoe Allsop rode to 15th and 2nd in their classes respectively, completing the day’s racing line-up.
Summit MTB Club runs regular coaching sessions and trail rides for young people aged 8-16 in and around the Chilterns. If you would like more information, please email Clare Muir, email@example.com
