Summit All*Stars shine!
Young riders from Chiltern-based Summit MTB Club showed their strength in numbers at the first round of the Gorrick Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series in Crowthorne Woods near Bracknell at the weekend.
Summit’s newly formed All*Stars Youth Development Team, along with other young members of the club took the event by storm, showing huge determination and skills on the tricky muddy and root-strewn course.
With the Under 11s and under 13s completing a shortened, but still challenging course, Lucy Allsop (who was only just eligible for racing having recently celebrated her eight Birthday) kicked off proceedings with an excellent win in the Under 11 girls race. In the U11 boys race Ed Campbell rode fantastically to take second place behind James Gostick riding for Reading-based Palmer Park Velo. He was followed home by Zachary Rahaman riding his first ever mountain-bike race into a brilliant fourth place and Finn Mitchell was a strong eighth.
In the hotly-contested U13 boys race Summit showed strongly with Charles Rollins (11) placing fifth and Oliver Raja-Brown just behind in 6th place.
The Juvenile (13-14) boys rode one full lap of the course and again Summit All*Star riders gained top placings. Ben Broadhead was just pipped to a podium spot by Noal Charlton (VC Deal), and Tom Barrowcliffe rode well into seventh. Special mention goes to teammate Ross Deal who came eighth in what was his first ever race! Seth Kanaris rode a brave race into 13th position.
Summit’s sole Youth Male (15-16) rider, James Creavin rode strongly to finish eighth.
