Team-mates Lucy Allsop (7) and Charles Rollins (11) made a successful
transition into the fast and furious world of cyclo-cross at the weekend when
they took part in the Go-Racing event at the British Cycling National Trophy
Series Cyclo-Cross Event at Milton Keynes Bowl. The Under-12s racing took
place on a slightly shortened, but equally technical and hilly course than the
older riders, and with young riders from all over the country taking part,
competition was strong.
Lucy rode extremely strongly to take the top podium spot in the U8 Girls,
beating sisters Elana-Rose Fereday and Evie-Louise Fereday from home club
Team MK, and Charles finished a strong ninth in the U12 boys race despite
crashing early in the race.
Lucy and Charles were both pleased with their races, and enjoyed watching the
sport’s top racers in the Elite race later on in the day. Central Region British
Cycling Coach, Graham MacNamee commented on the young riders, ‘What a
