Young Summit Success at Black Park

Summit MTB Club braved the elements on Sunday to compete in the Beyond Black Park Mountain Bike Race hosted by West Drayton Mountain Bike Club. On an increasingly technical course as the rain continued to fall, cyclists of all ages came from across the region to test their skills and endurance in this early-season opener.

The youngest riders were first off the start line, completing 3 laps (U12) and 2 laps (U10) of the 2.5 shortened course respectively. Summit riders showed strongly in all categories, with Molly Wingrove and Olivier Brown winning the U10 girls and boys races, and Summit riders, filling both podium and minor placings throughout both categories. Charles Rollins rode excellently into a strong second place in the U12 boys race, with Seth Karnaris also finishing forth in the same category.

The following races battled with the conditions on the longer and technically harder 3.5 mile full course. Summit showed strongly in the U14 Juvenile Male category, with Joshua Scott, Christopher Hershee and Oliver Buxton finishing in 9th, 10th and 11th place. Hugo Lanning rode a brave race into 9th position in a hotly contested Youth Male U16 category.

All the riders regularly attend coaching and skills sessions hosted by Summit MTB Club, a British Cycling Go-Ride Clubmark Club, at Lotts Wood near Hyde Heath and Ashridge Forest. For more information please see or call Go-Ride Coach, Clare Muir on 07941 470066.
